Shannon Stryker - {LADY BOSS FEATURE}
With a name like Shannon Stryker and brows like "WHOA" you are almost DESTINED to open up a Badass Boss Lady Brow biz! Well, that's what this busy mama did and boy does she do it well!Lady boss girl boss entrepreneur gifts
Shannon is the Founder and Owner of Honeybee Skin and Wax Studio located in Mukilteo, WA. She opened her doors to the studio in January of 2011. Even MORE EXCITING is that she has recently launched her own brand of "Eyebrow Artistry" products called Buddha Brow and they are SO GOOD! I can personally attest that these  are THE BOMB!
Buddha Brow + Strawberry Revolution MOM BOSS
I am OBSESSED with Shannon's Buddha Brow swag! I purchased the Redhead pencil and the Clear brow gel this Summer and I officially cannot leave my house without it. It turns out that you don't realize how bad your brows are until they look REALLY good, haha. I highly recommend this product... Even it's the only thing you put on your face, it'll make you feel like you've got your shit together. Like, at least little bit. Even if you're losing it at that particular moment... Do yourself a favor and make your eyebrows look good! Because #confidenceisbeauty ...
See?? Look at those brows, yum!

SHANNON STRYKER LADY BOSS - HONEYBEE SKIN & WAX STUDIO + BUDDHABROW.COM
Do you have a studio/office/store? Or work from home? If so, how big is your workspace?
I have a studio that is about 550 square feet in Mukilteo, Washington. I have worked from home as well and it is so extremely hard. I take my hat off to any woman that does it, especially if they do it with their kids are running around. Which is actually exactly how I grew up. Hats off to my mama who had a salon in our home with no nanny ever.
How many work days/hours do you work per week?
I am in my studio 4 days a week with clients, but I think most business owners can relate when I say, I am never truly not working between being a mom and running two business'. And honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. I am a busy body and I don't know how to sit down.
(Just kidding that was a two part question) How many days/hours do you THINK about work besides your regular hours?
I am ALWAYS thinking about my business and ways to improve it and myself as a business owner.
What is your showering schedule?
I take a shower before I go into the studio and by shower I mean I clean my body as fast as possible before my two year old realizes where I am and starts throwing toy trains at me.
What is the funniest thing you’ve experienced being a Lady Boss?
I think the funniest thing I've experienced is just the idea that I thought I could work from home with my kids there. When I first started my business it was for the purpose of being able to stay home with my kids and work at the same time. I quickly learned that you can not take care of a client and physically take their money for a service, when you just did it with crying baby next to you that smells like poop. It just doesn't work that way if you are trying to build a reputable spa business with great customer service.
If you had to describe your life (overall) in one word it would be:
Rollercoaster
Ok that was hard. Use 3 words:
Wild lovely ride
What does your typical work day look like?
My typical work day starts at 7am when my 6 year old usually wakes me up after pulling his 2 year old brother out of bed, bless his heart. We then rush around, eating Eggos and watching PokeMon, making lunch, slamming coffee, wiping runny noses, changing diapers and getting dressed. Then off to the bus where I no longer get a "BYE MOMMY! I LOVE YOU!" but has been replaced with a "bye mom" because we are a big 1st grader now and that is so uncool. And then back home, where I scramble to get ready while my 2 year old chases me around demanding things like a box of uncooked white rice or milk and cookies.
Leaving for work is actually a relief in a sense for me on most days. When I get to work my entire day is spent doing what I love, which is making other women feel beautiful and cared for. Between that, I do marketing and inventory and paperwork and send out orders and check in with accounts and clients and then check in on kids and plan dinner and text my husband that I love him.
Has there ever been a life changing moment or incident when you realized you are working too much and need to cut back? Tell us about that moment...
Oh my god, yes. About 2 years after I started my business, I was busier than I could have ever asked for. I was taking clients whenever I had the chance and at this time my business was below our home. I had the opportunity to work whenever I could and I did just that. I did not know how to say no, and I felt like I had to do everything. Which left me feeling like I was doing nothing right as a business owner and mom. I started having panic attacks almost every day and I felt like the earth was crumbling beneath my feet.
This was the start of an emotional journey that lasted an entire year. And it's where I learned the most about myself. I learned that in order to be able to run a business and take care of my home and family, I had to take care of myself first physically, mentally and spiritually. It was this troublesome year that taught me how to slow down and do so.
What is one (or two) products that you can recommend to other Ladypreneurs to make life easier?
Hot baths and wine. And a killer booking website, like schedulicity.com, so you aren't on the phone all day booking clients.
What can we find on your desk most days? (be honest!)
La Croix, a Starbucks Iced Coffee, mints, lists of things (I like lists...) and a crap ton of eyebrow products.
We are all about giving back here at StrawRev, do you donate or give back to any cause?
Honeybee Skin and Wax Studio gives back to women who are going through radiation and/or chemotherapy who have lost their hair and eyebrows. We offer a complimentary service to show these women how to wear their eyebrows when no hair is present by filling in the brow area with Buddha Brow products.
Being a Lady Boss can be stressful and hard at times - What is your favorite thing to do FOR YOU to relax and free your mind?
Hot Yoga is my life line really. It is my religion in a sense. I also read a lot of books on spirituality and parenting. I listen to The Power of Now almost every morning before work. I think being present is the most powerful tool we provide for ourselves and others.
What is ONE thing that has helped you keep family and work life balanced ?
Saying No. As I've gotten older and my business has grown, I have learned this time and time again. Also, my husband brings so much balance into my life. We share all of our responsibilities and he helps with the dishes and laundry and grocery shopping and kids.
What is your FAVORITE thing about being a #LADYBOSS?
I make my own rules and therefore I work for a company that embodies my morals and values.
If you had a “Real Housewives” slogan what would it be?
If you love me, let me sleep.
If you could have a super power what would it be?
Staying calm in all situations. I truly think if you can stay calm and centered, you can do anything. My anxiety gets in my way.
Tell us something most people don't know about Lady Boss life (Good or bad)
It can be lonely! It is a life style that I think is really hard to understand unless you live it and it's hard to put into words what the drive and busyness feels like on a daily basis.
And finally... We know you have a lot of them but what is your #1 favorite entrepreneur quote?
I really do love the quote, "If you don't build your dreams, someone will hire you to help build theirs." Is it a quote if you don't know who said it? Crap...Well it's a good one and it is really why I always had a hard time working for other people. Being that both my parents were self employed, it never made sense to me to make money for someone else.
How many kiddos do you wrangle daily?
2 little boys
Tell us about a time you've experienced "Boss mom guilt"
Every damn day!
What do you want your children to learn from seeing you work so hard?
Just to work hard! I want them to know they aren't entitled to anything this world has to offer, but if they work hard and be kind, they can create whatever they want in life.
What does dinner time look like?
I'm not going to lie and I wish I could, but dinner time is a time for my husband and I. We feed the kids dinner, wait for them to be in bed and then we make our own dinner. We both love to cook, so it's a special time for us. One thing we do as a family though on most nights, is say what we are thankful for at the dinner table.

Wow! That housewives line may be my very favorite of all time!
